Fish'n from a tree stand

Today, while hunting in John's tree stand, cause he was not here, I had a problem with a shooting lane that was blocked by some dead limbs. He had told me about the problem a few days ago, saying that he was going to have to take a saw in to saw a limb down. I had not planned to hunt His stand so I didn't pay it much attention at the time. However. I have run across this issue before and thought others might benefit from this little trick.

If you have ever had a dead limb hang down across your shooting lane just out of reach or maybe you did not have a saw at the time, this might help.

Take your pull rope or string and attach something of weight to the end of it. This time I had a bolt in my back pack. (Why, you ask, do I have a bolt in my back pack? Answer: just in case some one steals the pins out of your tree stand while you were away. It happened.) Attach the weight to the end of the rope and toss it across the dead limbs. It will inevitably get tangled. Then slowly pull till the limb breaks. It works great!

Unfortunately, nothing walked into that lane today, or anywhere else I might add. I guess that's hunting.
